La Quinta ~ The Gem of the Desert

The City of La Quinta is a community nestled at the base of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains, just 30 minutes from Palm Springs. With its small-town friendliness, La Quinta is a peaceful and relaxing community. However, it is also a year-round, multi-recreational and destination resort community. Known as the "Gem of the Desert," La Quinta enjoys low humidity combined with an abundance of sunshine year-round.

Golf and tennis enthusiasts from around the world visit or locate to La Quinta for the fabulous facilities and spectacular events hosted here annually. PGA West, internationally recognized as one of the world's most magnificent resort communities, has been the site of numerous national and professional events.

Incorporated in 1982, La Quinta had a population of just over 5,200. Today, the population has grown to approximately 30,450 and La Quinta is listed as one of California's fastest growing cities. The vast majority of its open area is attractive for development with the opportunity for planned growth.

The La Quinta Arts Festival draws thousands of visitors each March. The festival features over 200 exceptional artists offering superior-quality original art and excellence in presentation selected from a juried competition. Recognized by Southwest Arts Magazine as one of the must-attend art events in the western United States. Housing and hotel development in La Quinta and the surrounding area are supporting the City's growth. New homes are now available in La Quinta at prices ranging from the high $90,000's to multi-million dollar homes. A wide range of older, established housing, condominiums and town houses is also available for rent or purchase.

This world-class city consistently ranks as one of the fastest growing in California, undoubtedly because of its pro-business climate and its gorgeous resorts and golf courses. Yet, its residents continue to maintain a small-town atmosphere with all of its attendant values. Indeed, this unique attitude for creating a low-key feel to its environs is truly at the heart of La Quinta's appeal! It is located in one of the most glorious places in the world – California's "Oasis in the Sun!"

A truly extraordinary setting, La Quinta snuggles up against the magnificent Santa Rosa Mountains and boasts spectacular scenery in all directions, perfect weather and a forward-looking community dedicated to a successful future.  Whether golf or tennis is your game, La Quinta has the best of both!

La Quinta’s name was derived from the Spanish term for fifth, as explorers would often travel for 4 days and rest on the fifth. In fact, Point Happy, at the intersection of Washington Street and Highway 111, was once a watering hole and the original resting place of La Quinta. La Quinta is one of the fastest-growing communities in the entire Coachella Valley. Dominated by golf course communities like PGA West, The Tradition, Alicante, Rancho La Quinta, the Citrus, Palm Royale, The Palms, Muirfield, Greg Norman Estates, Mountain View and the Quarry, the selections are unlimited. The vast majority of its open area is attractive for development with the opportunity for planned growth, with housing opportunities unparalleled in the Coachella Valley. From traditional single family homes and apartments to world class gated communities, La Quinta offers a variety of housing styles to meet primary or second home needs.
